The board also voted 4-2 in favor of adding a fourth-grade teacher to the school, but only if administrators could find classroom space.
However, it was determined that additional classroom space was not available, as adding a new fourth-grade class could threaten space for art and music classes, Bookman said.

Since May, Eastbury parents have been attending Board of Education meetings asking them to consider adding a new fourth-grade section to deal with class sizes currently at 24 and 25 students.
The special meeting to address their recent decisions will take place tonight at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of Eastbury Elementary School. The board will explain the hiring decisions, with an opportunity for public comment to follow.
