First Day of School Sees New Asst. Principals at Smith Middle School
Two new assistant principals will begin their first school year at Smith Middle School today.

With the first day of school at and today, returning students will see some new faces in administration.

Former science teacher Stephen Falcigno and former Old Lyme English teacher Kate Lund were appointed in July as the middle school’s newest assistant principals. Falcigno replaces retiring assistant principal Leslie Roulier, while Lund replaces former assistant principal Bill Duffy. Duffy left Glastonbury to take a principal position in Deep River.
Falcigno has taught science in Glastonbury since 1997, and was active as a team leader and committee member at Smith Middle School for many years before his appointment to assistant principal.

Lund previously taught English in Old Lyme, and has been described by school officials as bright, respected, polished, confident, and a leader. Lund also recently finished an administrative internship with Smith Middle School Principal Donna Schilke.
The first day of school for Glastonbury elementary schools begins tomorrow.
