Glastonbury Students Are Going Places!

ECSU students Nicole Calabrese and Gabrielle Little took educational trips abroad.

Two Glastonbury students at Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) have taken advantage of opportunities to see the world while gaining experience in their chosen fields of study. Earlier this year, Nicole Calabrese and Gabrielle Little took part in educational trips to Central America and Europe through the university.

Calabrese, a senior majoring in biology, was one of a group of ECSU students who traveled to Costa Rica to study the local fauna as part of an intensive 12-day field experience this summer. The students learned about tropical forest ecology and conservation issues. They conducted field research projects on topics such as tropical agriculture, the socioeconomic consequences of development in the tropics, and the conservation of tropical ecosystems.

Little, a junior majoring in communications, studied European media practices in Paris and London in late May as part of a European Media course taken prior to the trip. Little was part of a group of 18 students who went on the trip to learn about different platforms of European media and how they compare to American media.

Eastern Connecticut State University is a public liberal arts university serving approximately 5,400 students each year on its Willimantic campus and satellite locations.
