More Charges for Accused Glastonbury Golf Club Thief

The suspect is accused of swiping golf clubs from cars and garages last summer and fall.

The West Hartford man already facing a plethora of burglary and larceny charges for allegedly swiping expensive golf clubs from Glastonbury garages and cars, has been arrested again.

According to WTNH, Justin Scalise, 23, was arrested Wednesday by West Hartford Police after learning Glastonbury Police had obtained an arrest warrant charging him with another theft of golf clubs last fall.

Scalise already faces burglary, larceny and conspiracy charges stemming from eight separate thefts between June and October of 2014. According to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website, Scalise has pleaded not guilty to those charges and was free on a total of $325,000 bond set on the charges. He is scheduled to appear June 25 in state Superior Court in Manchester on those charges.

Scalise, and a second suspect, Derek Benson, of Glastonbury, are accused of swiping golf clubs from cars and garages in Glastonbury and reselling them to a golf outlet in Hartford. Benson remains in custody, unable to post a total of $350,000 bond on the same charges, according to the Judicial Branch website. He’s due back in court on July 16.
