3 Juveniles Charged With Stealing Items From Cars: Greenwich PD
Police said three juveniles are accused of breaking into cars in Greenwich and stealing items.

GREENWICH, CT — Police said three Bridgeport juveniles are accused of breaking into cars in Greenwich and stealing items. They were referred to Juvenile Court on Tuesday for larceny and burglary charges, police said in a statement.
According to police, officers observed a car traveling in the Cos Cob area of town without its lights on around 4 a.m. on Tuesday. The driver sped away when officers tried to stop the vehicle and was subsequently involved in a "minor collision," police said.
The three juveniles abandoned the car after it became disabled but were later located and arrested, police said. Officers also recovered items that had been taken from unlocked cars in town, police said.

Police did not reveal the identities of the three juveniles due to their age.
In addition to larceny and burglary charges, the 15-year old driver of the vehicle has been charged with "numerous motor vehicle violations," Lt. John Slusarz said in an email.

Earlier this month, police sent out a notice that three cars were stolen and 14 were entered between Aug. 26 and Sept. 4 in various areas of Greenwich.

Of the 14 vehicles that were entered, each one was unlocked and found to have been rummaged through. Miscellaneous items were stolen in these incidents, including a laptop computer, video games and loose change, Slusarz said.
It is unclear if any of these incidents are related to the three juveniles' arrests.
"The people responsible for these crimes are generally lazy and enter unlocked cars," Slusarz said in a statement earlier this month. "The best way to discourage this behavior is to lock your car, take your keys and not to leave valuables where they can be seen."
