Connecticut Weather Forecast: Flood Watch Issued
The National Weather Service issued the advisory in advance of Thursday's predicted heavy rain storm, which could include thunderstorms.

You can tell Thursday’s rain is going to be significant for Connecticut as the National Weather Service has already issued a Flood Watch in advance for the entire state beginning Thursday morning.
Connecticut could see between 1-2 inches of rain Thursday and there may be some thunderstorms too. All of the rain we’ve had over the past week may lead to flooding concerns and is why the Flood Watch has been issued, the National Weather Service says.
WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said “Lots of clouds today but it will be dry with high temperatures in the 50s. I'm expecting a lot of rain tomorrow! Good news for the weekend! Clearing skies slowly on Saturday, followed by sunshine on Sunday with high temperatures in the 60s!”

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Darren Sweeney wrote, “Enjoy a quiet Wednesday weather-wise..as another round of heavy rain moves in on Thursday (afternoon/evening).”
In its advisory for southern Connecticut, the weather service states that “Rainfall, heavy at times, is forecast Thursday before gradually decreasing from west to east Thursday night. Thunderstorms with locally heavier rainfall rates are also possible, especially during Thursday afternoon. Any new rainfall will exacerbate already swollen rivers and streams." The weather service is predicting 1.5 to 2 inches of rain for southern Connecticut.

In Hartford and Tolland counties, the National Weather Service's advisory states, “A low pressure system will bring another round of soaking rainfall to southern New England Thursday into Thursday evening. The potential exists for a widespread 1 to 1.5 inches of rainfall, with locally higher amounts possible. Recent rainfall has caused significant rises in area rivers and streams. The rainfall during Thursday will bring the threat for areas of minor river and stream flooding."
