Greenwich Driver Arrested After Boat Falls Off Trailer, Blocks Traffic

The driver is accused of arguing with a Greenwich Police officer after his boat fell off a trailer and blocked traffic.

Greenwich Police arrested a Greenwich resident after the boat he was hauling fell off a trailer, blocked traffic and then allegedly argued with the police officer who responded to the incident.

Police also seized the license of the 80-year-old driver after he nearly backed into his friend who was trying to help him load the boat back onto the trailer and then became “belligerent and verbally aggressive … and refused to cooperate and actively argued with (the) investigating officer, obstructing her from performing her duties,” according to a police report.

Police identified the driver involved in the May 11 incident at 8:39 a.m. on North Water Street as Carl V. Jensen of 164 N. Water St., Greenwich.

Jensen was arrested on an interfering with police charge. He also was issued infractions for operating an unregistered motor vehicle (the trailer) and an unsecured load.

Police seized Jensen’s license and “was recommended for retesting due to his age and mental status,” according to the police report

Jensen was released on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford.
