Greenwich Whole Foods Employee Dies Of Coronavirus
An employee at a Whole Foods grocery store in Greenwich has died due to complications related to the new coronavirus.

GREENWICH, CT — An employee at a Whole Foods grocery store in Greenwich has died due to complications related to the new coronavirus, according to a spokesperson. The store confirmed the news Wednesday evening in an emailed statement to Patch.
"We have lost a member of the Whole Foods Market community, who passed away on May 10 from complications [related to] COVID-19," a Whole Foods spokesperson said in an email. "This is a tragic loss for his loved ones and for his fellow team members at our Greenwich store. We are offering our support and providing counseling services as they process this difficult loss."
The man's name and age were not released by the store, which is located on East Putnam Avenue.

Whole Foods has nine locations in Connecticut. As of Wednesday evening, the total number of positive coronavirus cases in Connecticut is at 34,855 and there have been 3,125 deaths.
Last month, a Stratford Stop & Shop employee died after contracting the virus. The part-time employee last worked March 20 at the store, located at 200 E. Main Street.

The store was deep-cleaned and workers who were in close contact with the person were asked to self-quarantine, according to a store spokesperson.
