GREENWICH, CT — A gun was recovered from the home of a man who was charged in connection with an armed robbery in Riverside that occurred on Jan. 28, according to an update from the Greenwich Police Department.

After the man was confronted by a store employee, he pulled out a gun and pointed it at the employee who backed away, police added, noting the man fled the area on foot.

An on-scene investigation identified Williams as the suspect, and officers responded to his home in the Riverside area where he was arrested.

"Detectives had reason to believe that evidence of the crime was within William’s [sic] residence and were able to obtain a search warrant for William's [sic] residence," police posted on Facebook Wednesday. "The search warrant was executed shortly after without incident."

Officers seized a black "glock-like" pistol with two empty 10-round 9mm magazines within a Vault pistol case, police said.

"A function test was performed on the weapon which involves dry firing the firearm and racking the slide with a depressed trigger," police noted. "The firearm successfully cycled and reset the trigger, which is indicative that it would discharge a live round."

Officers also noticed the gun had no serial numbers engraved on any portion of the firearm, police said.

Williams was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal manufacturing of a firearm with no serial number, and illegal possession of a firearm with no serial number.

Williams' next court date is scheduled for Feb. 5, police said in an arrest report. He was unable to post a $500,000 bond.
