Man Charged With Possession Of Child Pornography: Greenwich Police

Greenwich police said a man turned himself in on Sept. 21 on an active arrest warrant.

GREENWICH, CT — A New York City man who was arrested in Greenwich nearly a year ago and accused of trying to meet an underage girl has now been charged with first-degree illegal possession of child pornography, according to the Greenwich Police Department.

John Richard Constant, 32, turned himself in to the GPD on Sept. 21 on an active arrest warrant. He was released on a $100,000 surety bond.

"The warrant stemmed from a post-arrest investigation into Constant in August 2023 alleging his possession of electronic Child Sexual Abuse Material (CASAM)," Greenwich police said in an arrest report.

The GPD's Special Victims Section conducted an undercover operation in which a detective posed as a 14-year-old girl in an online chatroom and befriended Constant, police said.

Constant began to steer conversations towards becoming more sexually explicit in nature, police said, noting that he "began describing sex acts that he wanted to perform on the 14-year-old girl when they met."

The multi-week investigation culminated on Dec. 12 when Constant made plans to meet with the supposed underage girl in Greenwich, police said. Constant was arrested without incident at a pre-arranged location.

He was charged with risk of injury to a child; illegal sexual contact with a victim under the age of 16; second-degree criminal attempt at sexual assault; and criminal attempt at enticing a minor by computer.

Constant is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Oct. 10.
