Man Faces Charges He Used Forged Script In Attempt t o Obtain Drugs

Greenwich Police say the suspect used forms from a stolen prescription pad at Walgreens

A 31-year-old man is facing charges he forged a prescription f that was written on a stolen prescription form in a failed attempt to obtain the amphetamine Adderall from the Walgreens in Riverside.

Greenwich Police said they were called to the pharmacy at 1333 E. Putnam Ave. shortly after 10 p.m. Monday on a report of a man trying to “pass a fraudulent prescription for Adderall using sheets from a stolen prescription pad.” Police found additional prescription sheets in his vehicle after the suspect consented to a search, according to a police report.

The suspect was identified as Jonathan E Hanchar, 31, of Barrington, RI. He was charged with 10 counts each of criminal attempt to obtain a controlled substance by fraud and criminal attempt at illegal possession of a controlled substance, and six counts of second-degree forgery.

Hanchar was unable to post a $1,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear April 27 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
