Man Wanted In Catalytic Converter Theft Arrested: Greenwich Police

Police said the arrest stems from an incident in May 2022 in which four people tried to steal car parts and threatened a resident in Byram.

GREENWICH, CT — A 21-year-old man wanted in connection with a 2022 catalytic converter theft that occurred in the Byram section of town has been arrested, according to the Greenwich Police Department.

Ashan Langston, of Bridgeport, was arrested on a warrant on May 25 that charged him with first-degree criminal mischief; fourth-degree larceny; first-degree robbery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy, his arrest report shows.

Police said the arrest stems from an incident that occurred on May 28, 2022, when four people were interrupted by a resident while stealing catalytic converter parts on Henry Street in Byram around 4:30 p.m.

While attempting to flee the area, the thieves left their vehicle’s trunk open with catalytic converters from past thefts inside, police said.

The resident removed several of the stolen car parts from the trunk of the car, police said. The thieves, who were in possession of a knife and a sawzall tool, approached the resident and threatened to use a gun, police noted.

In March, police arrested Joshua Dejesus, 24, of Bridgeport, and charged him in connection with the incident.

Dejesus was given a $250,000 bond. According to the CT judicial branch website, he was released. His next court date is scheduled for June 14.

"An investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies led to the identification of two suspects," said GPD Lt. Lynden Latiak on Wednesday.

Langston was given a $200,000 bond. He's scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 9, his arrest report shows.
