Connecticut Weather: New Updates On Friday, Super Bowl Snow

New details have been released regarding how much snow and when to expect the snow to fall on Friday. Here's the latest information.

It appears snow will be falling during Friday's morning commute but the good news is it's not expected to add up to much. Most of the state may see an inch or two of snow, according to the National Weather Service and Connecticut's meteorologists.

The timing of the snow is less than ideal and it could cause slippery conditions and possibly lead to school delays Friday morning. And as for Super Bowl Sunday, it's looking like a mix of rain and snow Sunday afternoon and evening and a changeover to snow late Sunday into Monday morning.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook has already been issued for inland sections of Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties for the "low" potential of up to six inches of snow by Monday afternoon, but the weather service cautions that less than six inches is more likely. That storm's track still remains very uncertain.

Friday's Snow Chance

Precipitation is expected to begin as rain tonight and change over to snow by Friday morning, the weather service says. Light snow accumulations of up to an inch are possible in Connecticut. Friday will usher in much colder air too.

said "By Friday morning: A coating in spots, up to an inch or two if timing is right (best chance for that hills). But with temps dropping below freezing, slippery roads could be an issue anywhere, especially untreated/side roads."

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons "Clouds & 40s today with some PM rain showers. Rain ends as snow early Friday morning with school delays possible! Sunshine midday tomorrow!"
