Old Greenwich Postal Clerk Is Facing Forgery, Larceny Charges

A postal clerk who worked in the Old Greenwich post office is facing larceny and forgery charges in connection with the theft of postal money orders, according to Greenwich Police.

On March 5, detectives applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for the 22-year-old clerk charging her with one count of conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny and six counts of first-degree forgery, according to a police report.

When officers arrested Keiyana Lawhorne of 3 Miranda Ln., Stratford, at the Old Greenwich Post Office at 36 Arcadia Rd. at 3:40 p.m. March 5, investigators said they found Lawhorne had two “stolen and altered U.S. Postal money orders,” according to the report. Lawhorne was charged with two additional counts of first-degree forgery and fourth-degree forgery.

Lawhorne also faces a fourth-degree larceny charge, according to the report.

She was held overnight in lieu of $250,000 bond. She was released after her arraignment in state Superior Court in Stamford on March 6 on a $250,000 professional surety bond, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website. She is scheduled to return to court March 17.
