It was about 2:30 a.m. on June 27 when a patrol officer saw two suspicious vehicles on driving slowly on Cliff Avenue. As the officer approached the vehicles, they immediately accelerated in opposite directions at a high rate of speed, police said. One vehicle passed dangerously close to the marked police car traveling in the opposite lane of travel. Greenwich Detectives determine that the fleeing car was a Chevy Impala which was stolen from Cliff Avenue and driven by Narine, police said.

Narine was charged with third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, interfering with an investigation, possession of burglary tools, and possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana. Bond on those charges was set at $15,000.

According to Greenwich Police, while officers were processing Narine’s arrest, Stamford Police served him with two warrants charging him with second-degree robbery and threatening.

Narine is the second suspect to be charged with the Cliff Avenue car theft. Donald E. Smith, 19, of 26 High St., Norwalk, was arrested on the same charges on July 29.

Police have said they have obtained an arrest warrant for a third suspect.
