CT Weather: Severe Storms, Strong Winds After Flooding Nightmares
Connecticut won't see a break from the weather today as now more storms with potentially damaging winds are expected. Find out when.

This seems very cruel of Mother Nature, but one day after parts of the state saw more than eight inches of rain, more rain is expected this afternoon and evening, which could lead to severe thunderstorms and more flash flooding concerns. Damaging wind gusts and flooding concerns are the biggest worries for today in Connecticut.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the entire state and flash flooding advisories may need to be posted later today.
For Southern Connecticut, the National Weather Service says, "A cold front will approach and move through the area today and tonight. Showers and thunderstorms will develop out ahead of the front. Some of the storms may become strong to severe. The main threat with these storms will be damaging winds. SPC has placed the area in a slight risk for severe storms.

Additionally, flash flooding will be possible today. Flash flood guidance is 0.25"/hr or less in portions of the area that received heavy rainfall from yesterday. With thunderstorms expected today, flash flood guidance may be exceeded."
For Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties, the National Weather Service says, "Scattered showers with embedded thunderstorms may impact the region late today and this evening from west to east with the greatest risk across western portions of MA and CT. A few of the stronger storms may produce gusty winds and brief torrential downpours." (To sign up for free, local breaking news alerts from more than 100 Connecticut communities, click here.)

Litchfield County:
"Thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and early evening. Some storms may produce strong or damaging wind gusts. The Storm Prediction Center continues to have the local area under a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms.
Storms will also be capable of producing locally very heavy downpours which could cause localized urban, poor drainage and low lying flooding, especially for any locations that received heavy rain on Tuesday."
