Sex Assault, Witness Tampering Arrest For Riverside Therapist: PD

The 62-year-old was arrested on a warrant Monday.

GREENWICH, CT — A 62-year-old Riverside man who works as a therapist was arrested on a warrant Monday charging him with second-degree sexual assault and witness tampering, according to Greenwich police.

Specific details of the incident were not immediately available, but police said in a statement that it allegedly involved "an inappropriate relationship" that was reported in August of last year.

The accused, Kevin A. Root, of Long Meadow Road, surrendered to police at about 8 p.m. on Monday.

"In August 2017 the Greenwich Police Department received a complaint that a victim had been involved in an inappropriate relationship with local therapist (Dr. Kevin Root)," wrote Lt. John Slusarz in the statement. "The Greenwich Police Department Special Victims Section conducted an exhaustive investigation which resulted in an arrest warrant [being] issued for Dr. Root for Sexual Assault in the Second Degree."

Root was released after posting bond on bail of $75,000, and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on April 23.
