Singer Daphne Willis Visits Liberation Programs TODAY

Singer visits with Families In Recovery Program (FIRP) clients. Special event ahead of the organization's Spirit of Hope Gala this evening.

Accomplished singer Daphne Willis will visit with clients participating in the Liberation Programs Families In Recovery Program (FIRP) today and may even perform a song or two.

FIRP, a short to long-term inpatient program in Norwalk for pregnant and parenting women, is unique in our region. Liberation Programs is the only organization offering in-patient treatment for pregnant and parenting women in Fairfield County and the only one in Connecticut where mothers can bring two children up to the age of 10 into the program with them. While there, the organization helps mothers overcome their substance misuse problems and acquire the skills and resources they need to provide safe, nurturing homes for their children, helping to break what is often a multi-generational cycle of poverty and addiction.

"Sure looking forward to connecting and supporting those families at Liberation Programs and performing tonight for this great organization," said Willis.

The visit comes just hours ahead of the Liberation Programs Spirit of Hope Gala, which takes place tonight at 6pm at Woodway Country Club. The event raises critical funds for the life-saving treatment the organization provides for recoverees, and the outreach work it does to prevent substance use disorders in our community. A highlight of the evening will be a performance by Willis.

Maggie Young, Chief Recovery Officer for the organization, and an honoree at this evening's event, was instrumental in the creation, implementation, and leadership of FIRP and the attached Gini's House Supportive Housing.
