CT Weather: Heat Advisory, Watches Issued As Temps Skyrocket

And the initial Labor Day weekend weather forecast is out and it's not great news.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for all of Connecticut, except in Hartford County where an Excessive Heat Watch has been issued as temps will skyrocket this week. The Labor Day weekend weather forecast also features a chance for rain showers on both Saturday and Sunday currently.

For Southern Connecticut, the weather service says, "...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TUESDAY TO 9 PM EDT WEDNESDAY...

* LOCATION...Most of southern New England.

* Heat Index Values...In the mid 90s to low 100s due to temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s, and dewpoints in the lower 70s.

* Timing...Late morning into the early evening hours both Tuesday and Wednesday.

* Impacts...The combination of heat and high humidity levels may cause heat stress or other heat related illnesses particularly to those most vulnerable.


Connecticut's work week weather forecast:

A Bermuda high will provide dry, but increasingly hot and humid weather into the middle of the week. Highs today will generally be in the upper 80s to lower 90s, with cooler conditions expected along the immediate coast. Combined with the humidity, it will feel a degree or two warmer than the actual temperature.

Tuesday will be even warmer, with highs in the lower to middle 90s. Heat index values will be in the upper 90s to lower 100s. Heat exhaustion or heat stroke is possible. Be sure to stay drink plenty of water and stay in air conditioning if possible to prevent heat illnesses and remember to check on the at risk population such as the elderly or the young. Slightly warmer conditions are in store for Wednesday.
