Fundraiser Started For Family Affected By Fatal Groton Fire

Groton police and other city agencies are ​raising money for the family of a woman who was killed in an apartment fire​.

GROTON, CT — Groton police and other City of Groton agencies are raising money for the family of a woman who was killed in an apartment fire Wednesday. Police said on Facebook they are withholding the name of the victim at this time to protect both the family's privacy and the department's investigation.

"The women and men of the City of Groton Police Department through the City of Groton Police Union have donated $300, and other agencies of the City of Groton are conducting fundraising, with the funds raised internally going directly to this family," police said on Facebook.

Police said the department's agency Chaplain, Reverend Coleman of St. John's Christian Church,has agreed to spearhead outside fundraising and can be reached at 860-449-0331. Checks can be sent to the church at the following address:
