Bear Struck, Killed On Route 15 In Hamden: Report

HAMDEN, CT — A bear was struck and killed on Route 15 near Exit 60 in Hamden, the Connecticut Post reports.
The bear may have been the same one that was seen running through the center of North Haven on Tuesday, according to the Post.
The North Haven Animal Control responded to several reports of a bear sighting on Tuesday, including near the center of town. A neighbor reported to Patch that the bear was also seen on Vista Road at about 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

North Haven Police also offered several tips on what to do if you see a bear since "we have a bear cutting through the center of town."
"Remove any birdfeeders from your property," police said on Tuesday. "Ensure garbage is properly packaged when put outdoors. Look first prior to letting pets outside.

"When our Animal Control Officers respond to reports of bear sittings, they typically attempt to scare the bear away from any populated area. We do not harm, or attempt to capture the bears."
