Brief Power Outages Possible In Hamden: United Illuminating

NORTH HAVEN, CT — United Illuminating customers in North Haven and parts of Hamden may experience a brief power outage this weekend. During the early morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 12, UI will be conducting system testing at an electrical substation in North Haven to maintain the reliability of its energy grid, the company announced in a press release.

During this procedure, which will be conducted between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., customers in North Haven and the northeastern section of Hamden may experience a brief power outage. The outage is expected to last less than 5 minutes, officials said.

“Customers may wish to check clocks and electronic devices that typically need to be reset following an outage,” UI officials said in the news release. “This work is part of UI’s ongoing commitment to providing a safe, reliable energy grid that’s capable of meeting the needs of its customers and communities now and into the future.”
