A developer has pulled plans to build hundreds of apartments in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — A developer has pulled plans to build hundreds of luxury apartments off Rocky Top Road in Hamden, according to NBC Connecticut. Nearby residents had fought the proposal for nearly a year.

NBC Connecticut reports the developer, Gary Richetelli of Mountain View Estates, officially scrapped the plan in the final hours of 2017 and decided to donate all of the land to the Hamden Land Conservation Trust.

The project had called for nearly 300 luxury apartment units to be built on an 18-acre site off Rocky Top Road, adjacent to the Quinnipiac University York Hill campus, according to NBC Connecticut.
