Fire Displaces 2 From Apartment Above Bakery In Hamden: Officials

HAMDEN, CT — Two residents were displaced from an apartment above a bakery in Hamden on Friday night, according to fire officials. The fire was contained to one apartment above three businesses at 25 Putnam Ave., which houses the Bread Basket bakery.

“The businesses will be able to reopen within a day, minor water damage from suppression,” officials wrote in a post on Twitter. “Fire Marshal has determined discarded smoking materials ignited this fire.”

The fire was declared under control around 9 p.m. No injuries were reported.
