Girl, 12, Arrested for Bringing Air Soft 'BB Gun' to Hamden Middle School

A 12-year-old girl was arrested for bringing an Air Soft “bb gun” to Hamden Middle School last week.

Hamden Police Department School Resource Officer Jay Bunnell was contacted by the school’s administration at about 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, regarding an incident involving a student, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

Smith said that the 12-year-old student brought the “bb gun” to school and displayed the weapon during class, loading it in front of other students.

The girl was charged with carrying a weapon on school grounds and possession of a dangerous weapon. She was released to the custody of her parent. She is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven on May 21.
