Hamden: Brownie Troop 60444 and Cadette Troop 60110 came together to make no sew fleece blankets for cats. The Girls plan on donating the blankets to a local animal shelter. The Cadette's are sixth through eighth graders and the Brownie's are second and third graders. Girl Scouts are Girl led. Combining an older Troop to work with a younger Troop is beneficial because the younger Girls have positive role models to look up to while the older Girls have an opportunity to put their leadership skills in action by mentoring the younger Girls.

Both of the Girl Scout troops plan on using some of the proceeds that they will receive from the Girl Scout Cookie Program to donate more supplies to the animals that are in need.
When you buy Girl Scout cookies, not only are you helping Girls to have amazing experiences, you are also helping the community. All cookie proceeds remain in Connecticut. On the council level, proceeds support girl programming and volunteer development. Girl Scout cookies are local troop's main fundraiser during the year. Cookie money proceeds provide the Girls with all the supplies they need for their meetings, allow the Girls to go on trips and events and also Take Action projects that benefit the Connecticut community. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the leading entrepreneurial program for Girls. Selling Girl Scout cookies helps the Girls to learn how to set a goal, work with a budget and gain confidence.
