Hamden Home Burglarized While Residents Were Asleep in Upstairs Bedroom
Police investigating early Monday morning burglary at West Helen Street in which a pocketbook, house and car keys were stolen.

Hamden Police are investigating an early Monday morning burglary that occurred at a West Helen Street residence while the homeowners were asleep in an upstairs bedroom.
Investigation revealed that entry was gained via an unlocked rear window, according to a police press release. Once inside, the individual(s) stole a pocketbook, as well as house and car keys.

The break-in was the third incident in Hamden in a two-week span.
The first was on Sept. 15 when an armed man broke into an apartment on Kaye Vue Drive, tied up the female resident and fled with her car, electronic equipment and debit card.

Then on Sept. 25 a Hamden couple was robbed at gunpoint during a home invasion on Mix Avenue.
Police are still investigating each case.
In light of the recent invasions, a West Helen Street resident, Cindy Simell-Devoe, told WFSB 3 that she is starting up a neighborhood watch group.
“It goes to show, it can happen anywhere,” Simell-Devoe told WFSB. “If it’s happening here, it could happen anywhere.”
