Hamden to Host Day Full of Festivities at Town Center Park Friday

There will be plenty for residents and families to enjoy Friday night at Hamden Town Center Park, including a Farmer’s Market, a screening of Disney’s Frozen on a 40-foot screen, and more.

The festivities begin with the Town Center Park Farmer’s Market from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be followed by a dance party from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Frozen will begin at 8 p.m.

Hamden’s Youth Services Bureau will also be on hand accepting school supplies donations. Every resident that donates a bag of school supplies will receive a special surprise treat. There will also be a 24-foot inflatable waterslide on the premises during the Farmer’s Market.

Along with the movie and dance party, the town will also present Hamden’s first Dessert Food Truck Festival, which runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature dessert food trucks, such as Sugar Bakery, Ben and Jerry’s, Six Pence Pies, Gourmet Lady Peach Cobbler, DiSorbo Fried Dough, Elm City Kettle Corn, and more.

“The events on Aug. 22 are geared towards families,” Mayor Scott D. Jackson said in a press release. “This will be the Friday before kids go back to school, so we wanted to make sure that we were going to have a whole day of events for families to spend time together as the summer winds down. The festivities at the Farmer’s Market will flow very well into the evening activities, making it a great day for families to spend in Town Center Park.”

The rain date for the Dance Party, Frozen and Dessert Food Truck Fest will be Friday, Aug. 29 at all the same scheduled times. Cancellation of the evening’s events will be announced by noon on the day of the event.

Hamden Municipal Parking Lot - Dixwell Avenue between Whitney and Washington Avenues

Hamden Center One Garage - Whitney Avenue behind Mickey’s and Dunn’s

There will also be parking at Miller Library. Handicapped parking and cart service will be available from the lower lot at Miller, where the Farmers Market is located.
