Hamden Man Sentenced In Connection To Overdose
The man distributed oxycodone that authorities say were used by a victim who remains in a coma and is in a "persistent vegetative state."

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man has been sentenced to three years of probation for distributing oxycodone that was involved in an overdose in 2016, according to authorities. Ryan Looney, 21, was also ordered by U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny to serve the first six months of his probation in home confinement, U.S. States Attorney for Connecticut John H. Durham announced in a press release. The matter stems from an ongoing statewide initiative targeting narcotics dealers who distribute heroin, fentanyl or opioids that cause death or serious injury to users.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on Jan. 3, 2016, a 22-year-old man purchased 30 oxycodone pills from Tahir Farid, of Hamden, in exchange for $900. Two days later, after consuming some of those pills, as well as other substances, the victim was found unresponsive at a friend’s residence in Weston, according to authorities. He remains in a coma with no brain activity and, according to medical personnel, is in a “persistent vegetative state.”
Authorities said the investigation revealed that, prior to the victim’s overdose, Wayne Bradbury, of Hamden, supplied oxycodone pills and marijuana to Looney, who sold the oxycodone pills to Farid, who then distributed a portion of them to the 22-year-old victim.
