Hamden Man Tried To Join ISIS: Indictment
The man made travel plans to try and get near Syria, but was stopped before he could leave the country, according to federal authorities.
HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man was charged with trying to travel to fight for ISIS, according to a federal indictment.
Kevin Iman McCormick, 26, was arrested Oct. 21. He had made several statements to others indicating his willingness to fight for ISIS and to travel to Syria, according to the indictment.
He allegedly said, "“I gotta fight bro, because those people, Abu Masa and ISIL, they fought for me bro, I know it, I can feel it, in my heart. So it’s my time to fight . . . It just is what it is bro, it’s just my – it’s just my time to go bro.”

McCormick tried to board a flight from Connecticut to Jamaica, but was stopped by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He had also purchased a ticket from Toronto Canada to Jordan, according to the indictment.
He is charged with conspiring to provide material support to a terrorist organization.
