The POST Council is tasked with overseeing police training and setting the standards departments must meet to gain accreditation. Council members are also responsible for adopting and enforcing professional standards for certification of police officers.
“Since taking over the reins as Hamden’s top cop, Chief Wydra has a proven track record of successfully integrating police officers into the community,” said state Rep. Mike D’Agostino of Hamden.
“His multi-disciplinary approach to law enforcement has allowed the department to avail itself to new technology and conduct de-escalation, conflict resolution and community mediation training for its police officers,” D’Agostino added.
