Man Arrested On Gun Charges In Fatal Shooting: Hamden Police
The man's wife died in the shooting last month, according to police.
HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man has been arrested on gun charges in connection with a recent fatal shooting in town, according to police.
Police responded to the area of Pine Rock Avenue and Arch Street on Dec. 16 on the report of a shooting. Darlene Brown died as the result of a gunshot wound, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Her husband, Derrick Miller, suffered a gunshot wound to his torso and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment, Smith said.
Brown had been found sitting in the driver's seat of a vehicle and Miller was found lying on the ground near the passenger side of the vehicle, Smith said in a previous report. Brown and Miller were recently married, according to Smith.

Detective Joseph Liguori conducted the investigation and obtained an arrest warrant for Miller.
Miller was discharged from the hospital on Dec. 29 and was promptly arrested and taken to police headquarters, according to Smith.

Miler, 57, of Pine Rock Avenue, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and illegal alteration of a firearm. Miller is being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond with a court date of Jan. 19, according to state judicial records.
Smith said the investigation is continuing.
