Man Jumps Out Of Moving Car During Robbery: Hamden Police

Police say the victim was "pistol-whipped" and had his wallet stolen before jumping out of a moving car during an alleged drug deal.

HAMDEN, CT — A robbery victim jumped out of a moving car after being pistol-whipped during an alleged drug deal Friday evening in Hamden, according to police. At about 5 p.m. on Jan. 12, Hamden Police responded to the area of Warner Street on the report of a robbery, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that the victim was first seen making a purchase with a "$100 bill" at a local service station. He was subsequently approached by an individual, who asked him if he wanted to purchase marijuana. The victim agreed, and entered a motor vehicle, which contained four passengers, according to Smith.

The victim was driven to Warner Street, at which time he was “pistol whipped” and his wallet was stolen, according to Smith. The victim told police that in an attempt to escape he “jumped out of the moving car.” He sustained a broken ankle and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment, according to Smith.

The four individuals were described as males in their teens to early 20s.
