Man Leads Police On Foot Pursuit, Charged With Breaking Into Vehicles In Hamden
Police said a Rhode Island man was arrested after a brief foot pursuit on charges of stealing from a number cars in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT - Police said a Providence, Rhode Island man was arrested after a brief foot pursuit on charges of stealing from a number cars in Hamden. Officers initially responded to reports of a “male breaking into cars” Wednesday in the area of Whitney Avenue at approximately 12:30 a.m., according to a release.
Police said the suspect, 37-year old Carl Meisler, was subsequently observed standing near a parked motor vehicle. He then began to flee on foot, and was apprehended a short time later after a foot pursuit, police said.
Police said several motor vehicles had been forcibly entered by the suspect, and officers found numerous stolen items inside of his vehicle. Officers additionally seized 3 BB guns and 2 large knives the vehicle, police said.

Meisler was charged with burglary, larceny, interfering with a police officer and weapons in a motor vehicle among other charges, police said. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court August 3.
