Man Robbed While Meeting Up With ‘Date’ In Hamden: Police
Police say a man who arranged a "sexual encounter" through a dating app ended up a robbery victim instead.

HAMDEN, CT — A 31-year-old Willimantic man who arranged a “sexual encounter” through a dating app ended up a robbery victim Tuesday night in Hamden, according to police. After arriving at a Dudley Street residence for the arranged meeting, Romeik Best and Lamar Parker demanded money from the victim, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said the victim refused the request and was then briefly detained, threatened and “pushed” several times. His credit cards were stolen during the robbery, according to Smith. Best and Parker were arrested upon further investigation.
Best, 25, of Dudley Street in Hamden, was charged with criminal attempt to commit second-degree robbery and breach of peace. Best, who was detained on a $1,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on July 3.
