Police say the man was found with a stolen gun while meeting with police to discuss the shooting. The man who drove him was also arrested.
HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man, who police say fired several shots at a woman in vehicle after an argument last month, faces additional charges after he was found with a stolen gun while meeting with police to discuss the shooting incident. The person who drove him to meet with police was also arrested on gun charges. The investigation began at about 5:45 p.m. on Feb. 18 when police responded to the area of Morse Street and Newhall Street on the report of “shots fired,” according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said investigation revealed that several women were shopping at a business, located at 1245 Dixwell Avenue, and one of the women was involved in an argument with a man who was later identified as Kenneth Reddick.
Reddick followed the women as they left the store and got into a vehicle and headed toward Dixwell Avenue. Reddick followed them in his SUV, Smith said.

“Moments later, Detectives Joseph Liguori and Brian Stewart observed Reddick’s vehicle parked in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Washington Avenue,” Smith said in a news release. “Upon approaching the vehicle, they smelled burning marijuana emanating from inside. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a stolen 9mm handgun.”
The driver of Reddick’s vehicle, Patrick Jones, was promptly arrested and taken to police headquarters, according to Smith.
Reddick, 22, of Edgewood Avenue in New Haven, was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit. Reddick, who was detained on a $100,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on March 14.

Reddick was additionally charged for the Feb. 18 shooting. He was charged with illegal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, risk of injury to a child and first-degree threatening. Reddick was detained on an additional $150,000 court-ordered bond.
