Obituary: Madeline Marie Allen Giangrande, of Hamden

Madeline Marie Allen Giangrande “Maddie” passed through heaven’s gate on July 18, 2017 surrounded by her loving family and friends by her side. She was born on November 14, 1947 in New Haven, the daughter of the late Catherine Bagley (Degosta) and the late George E. Allen. She is survived by the love of her life William Giangrande Sr “Billy”, her loving sons Robert S. Maluk, Jr (Tracy) and Matthew Allen Maluk and her beloved dog Loosi.

She graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1968. She earned her Associates Degree from South Central Community College in Drug and Alcohol Counseling and her Bachelors Degree in Human Services from Albertus Magnus College. She was working on her Masters Degree at SCSU. She worked for Salvation Army as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor.

She loved being a student, Classical Music especially Beethoven and Cruising with her family to Bermuda and Southern Caribbean. She was a loving and caring woman and was loved by all who met her.

Visitation will be held on Saturday July 22, 2017 in Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Ave. from 9:30-10:30am. A graveside service will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Smilow Cancer Hospital or St Jude Children’s Hospital in Maddie’s name. Condolences may be expressed at hamdenmemorialfuneralhome.com
