Obituary: Melissa A. Geleneau, 33, of Hamden

Melissa was a substitute teacher for one of the joys of her life, children, and she taught early childhood education in various towns in CT.

Melissa A. Geleneau, 33, of Hamden, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the MidState Medical Center, Meriden. Melissa was born in New Haven on September 19, 1984 and was the loving daughter of Roseann Carusone Geleneau and George W. Geleneau of Hamden. She is also survived by her beloved boyfriend, Andranik Valedi (Andy) of Burlington, MA, her caring Aunt and Godmother, Carol Geleneau, her Uncle and Godfather William, her cousin, William II of North Haven, her Aunt Susan Carusone of Cheshire, her dear friends, Christina Roma and Amy Lucibello of Hamden, and many cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her grandparents, George and Lorraine Geleneau, and Michael and Rose Carusone.

She received a B.S. in Psychology from Albertus Magnus College in 2006 and her M.A. in Education from the University of New Haven in 2009. Melissa was a substitute teacher for one of the joys of her life, children, and she taught early childhood education in various towns in CT. She was fluent in Spanish and Sign Language.

Melissa loved to travel and visited Myrtle Beach, Florida, and cruised the Caribbean Islands. She was active for many years with the Youth Group of Church on the Rock and carried out missionary work in Mexico and West Virginia.
