Police Arrest 2 After Man Is Found Unresponsive In Hamden Parking Lot With Firearm

Police said two suspects were arrested after a man was found unresponsive, lying on the ground of a parking lot with a firearm.

HAMDEN, CT - Police said a man was arrested Wednesday at approximately 4:30 p.m. after he was found unresponsive, lying on the ground. Police initially responded to the rear parking lot of the Miller Memorial Library/Hamden Senior Center after receiving reports of two men with handguns in the area, according to a release.

Police said investigation revealed Willard Ar-Rahmaan, 48, of Hamden was walking behind the senior center, wearing a tactical style vest and carrying a firearm. Witnesses advised police that Ar-Rahmaan was in an “agitated state,” police said. (To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Police said Ar-Rahmaan then began to lie down near an employee’s motor vehicle. A friend of the suspect subsequently approached him and removed the firearm, tactical vest and handcuffs from him, police said.

The suspect was placed under arrest after receiving medical treatment, police said.

Police said Kimberly Davis-Trapani, 26, of Woodbridge who accompanied the suspect to the area, was also arrested for interfering with the investigation.

Ar-Rahmaan was charged with illegal use of a facsimile firearm, weapons in a motor vehicle and breach of peace. He is scheduled to appear in court August 2.

Davis-Trapani was charged with interfering with a police officer. She is scheduled to appear in court August 2.
