Police Warn Of Car Burglaries In Hamden

Police have responded to more than 60 reports of thefts from motor vehicles since the beginning of October.

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and take the necessary precautions to avoid becoming the victim of a crime. Police have responded to more than 60 reports of thefts from motor vehicles since the beginning of October, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said the majority of the incidents have occurred during the early morning hours. Various items have been stolen, including money, electronic equipment and personal items, according to Smith.

Police are advising residents take the following precautions:

  • If possible, park your vehicle in an illuminated area
  • Vehicles should be locked at all times
  • Remove all valuables, including small change from your vehicle
  • Do not leave your keys inside of the vehicle
