Shots Fired At Vehicle, Suspect Sought: Hamden Police

Police are searching for a suspect who fired multiple shots at a vehicle during a chase in broad daylight Wednesday in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — Police are searching for a suspect who fired multiple shots at a vehicle during a chase in broad daylight on Valentine’s Day. At about 1:45 p.m. on Feb. 14, Hamden Police responded to a shooting in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Putnam Avenue, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that three people were inside of a vehicle that was parked in the parking lot of 1245 Dixwell Avenue. While they were parked, a person arrived and attempted to open the passenger door of their vehicle, according to Smith.

“They subsequently fled from the area at a high rate of speed, while being chased by the individual, who was operating an ‘SUV type’ of vehicle,” Smith wrote in a press release. “While on Woodin Street, the victims stated that several gunshots were fired at their vehicle. The victim’s vehicle subsequently lost control, near Wilmot Street in New Haven. Fortunately, a New Haven Officer was in the area.”

The victim’s vehicle was struck by multiple gunshots and no injuries were reported, according to Smith.
