Sleeping Giant Park Closes To Additional Visitors Saturday
Sleeping Giant is closed to more visitors, but here are some other nearby parks you can check out.
HAMDEN, CT — Sleeping Giant State Park is closed to additional visitors after its parking lot filled to capacity Saturday April 11 shortly before 2:30 p.m.
Gov. Ned Lamont signed an executive order that gives park officials the power to close parks to additional visitors in an effort to promote effective social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic.
Sleeping Giant is one of the state's most popular parks, however, there are several other nearby parks that haven't filled to capacity Saturday afternoon. There is the West Rock Ridge State Park in Hamden/New Haven, the farmington Canal Greenway, Quinnipiac River State Park and Farms River State Park in East Haven The state has 139 parks and forests.
