State Trooper Arrested In Hamden

The state trooper is being investigated by internal affairs after the arrest, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A Connecticut State Police trooper was arrested early Sunday morning in Hamden. Dimitrie Bogiatzopoulos has been charged with disorderly conduct, according to state police.

Bogiatzopoulos, who has been a member of the force since 2007, had his department firearms, badge, identification, and police cruiser seized by a state police supervisor as a result of the arrest, according to officials.

Bogiatzopoulos' police powers “have been suspended and an internal affairs investigation is underway,” officials said.

Bogiatzopoulos and his wife were both arrested after a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation, Hamden Police Capt. Ronald Smith said in an update Monday morning. Police responded to the domestic dispute shortly after 1 a.m. on Jan. 26.

Both Dimitrie, 35, and Norah Bogiatzopoulos, 36, were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. They were scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 27.
