Teen, 18, Stole Computer, Phones, Meds: Hamden Police

The teen was arrested after an officer saw several suspects "checking door handles" at 3 a.m. in Hamden, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — An 18-year-old New Haven resident was arrested after police say he was in the possession of several stolen items and a fake gun during the overnight hours last week in Hamden. At about 3 a.m. on March 22, Officer Andrew Lipford saw three suspects “checking door handles” of parked motor vehicles on North Street, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Moments later, Lipford detained Angel Gonzalez-Delfi.

Smith said Gonzalez-Delfi was found to be in the possession of several stolen items, including a computer, several cellphones and prescription medication. During a search, police found a facsimile firearm tucked into Gonzalez-Delfi’s waistband, according to Smith. Gonzalez-Delfi was arrested and taken to Hamden Police Headquarters.

Gonzalez-Delfi, 18, of Eastern Street in New Haven, was charged with criminal attempt to commit third-degree burglary, two counts of sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, carrying a dangerous weapon and illegal possession of prescription medication.

Gonzalez-Delfi, who was detained on a $25,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 5.
