Teens Robbed Of Cellphones In Hamden: Police
One of the teens was shoved before his phone was stolen and another victim had her phone "smacked" out of her hand in two separate robberies

HAMDEN, CT — Police are investigating two street robberies that occurred Thursday afternoon in which two teens had their cellphones stolen in Hamden. The first robbery occurred at the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and Arch Street at about 2:30 p.m. while an 18-year-old was walking in the area and looking at his phone, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said the victim was approached by an individual, described as a black male in his 20s with a thin build and braided hair. The suspect “shoved” him, causing his cellphone to fall to the ground, according to Smith. The suspect grabbed the cellphone and ran westbound on Arch Street.
The second street robbery occurred at the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and North Street at approximately 4:30 p.m. The 17-year-old victim was standing at the bus stop, holding her cell phone, according to Smith.

Smith said the victim was approached by three individuals, whom she described as black males with braids. One of the men “smacked” the cellphone out of her hand, grabbed it and ran westbound on North Street, according to Smith.
