HARTFORD, CT — Local pupils returned to classes Aug. 27, but before that big day, pupils at one school enjoyed a special day courtesy of Price Rite Marketplace.

That's because on Aug. 25, the supermarket was at Fred D. Wish Museum School in Hartford to distribute bags to 150 students full of school supplies, a nice bonus to a nice start to the year.

The distribution was part of the school's Back to School Bash.

Local children received notebooks, crayons, pencils, glue sticks, erasers, markers and highlighters.

The goal of the distribution, according to Price Rite, was simply to provide a helping hand at a very expensive time of year ... back to school.

"Those living paycheck-to-paycheck often do not have a safety net," wrote Price Rite in a statement. "Price Rite Marketplace helps families throughout the year by providing food, personal care items and school supplies to communities in which they serve."
