Man, 28, Struck And Killed On I-84 In East Hartford: Police
The incident Tuesday night was the second pedestrian in four days to be killed on I-84 in the greater Hartford area.
EAST HARTFORD, CT — A 28-year-old New York man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 84 in East Hartford Tuesday night.
It was the second pedestrian fatality on the interstate since Saturday in the greater Hartford area, with a 32-year-old Torrington man killed while walking on I-84 in Hartford on Saturday.
According to Connecticut State Police, the victim has been identified as Randy Casado, 28, of Brooklyn, N.Y.

State police Wednesday morning released an accident report detailing the incident, which happened at about 8:27 p.m. Tuesday on I-84 West.
According to police, a 2007 Toyota Prius being driven by a 73-year-old Hartford man was traveling on I-84 West in the HOV travel lane.

Police said the pedestrian, later identified as Casado, was located directly in front of the Prius in the HOV lane and was struck by the vehicle.
The Prius then stopped in the swale between the HOV lane and the left lane of I-84, police said.
According to the accident report, Casado "sustained injuries not compatible with life" and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Prius was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford with "suspected minor injuries" and a passenger in the Prius, a 71-year-old Hartford woman, was not injured, police said.
This case remains under investigation.
