1892 Water Main Set For Replacement In Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A water main in Middletown that dates back to when Grover Cleveland was campaigning against Benjamin Harrison for the presidency is getting replaced.

The pipe replacement on Court Street, between Main Street and Broad Street, is scheduled to begin on Monday, town officials said.

Town officials said the water main was originally installed in 1892 and is being replaced to "prevent future failures."

Motorists can expect some delays at times during the day, and parking may be restricted depending on the construction activity taking place each day, officials said.

It is anticipated that the majority of the work will be completed by the end of October, officials said.
