Celebrating Earth Day with an Artist's Presentation
Argentinian artist to present "Plant Fibers in the Arts" at Covenant Village of Cromwell
An artist’s perspective on the relationship between paper, plants and art is the featured Earth Day presentation at Covenant Village of Cromwell on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. Acclaimed artist Liliana Fijman will present “Plant Fibers in the Arts” at the continuing care retirement community located at 52 Missionary Rd. in Cromwell.
Fijman’s slideshow and lecture will highlight how she transforms dead plants into visual expressions. She’s been using plant fibers as a medium and experimenting with the versatility of natural fibers in her artwork since 2001.
A native of Argentina, Fijman immigrated to Rhode Island, where she studied art at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work has been accepted in traveling exhibitions at the Fuller Craft Museum, Brockton, Mass., and has been on display in Rhode Island and Argentina.
