‘Concerning’ Comments Prompt Police Presence At Middletown School

Police will have an increased presence at Woodrow Wilson Middle School on Friday.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — There will be an additional police presence at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Middletown on Friday after a student made “concerning” comments on Thursday afternoon, according to school officials.

“It was reported to administration that a student made concerning comments in the presence of other students at Woodrow Wilson Middle School this afternoon,” Principal Cheryl Gonzalez wrote in a message to the school’s parents and guardians. “Middletown Police were called to investigate. Middletown Public Schools Administration and Middletown Police do not believe there is any danger to our students.

“To alleviate any concerns of parents or students, there will be an additional police presence at our school tomorrow.”

Mayor Dan Drew said he spoke with Gonzalez, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael Conner and Police Chief William McKenna on Thursday night and they believe students are not in danger.
